INTERESTING

Two out of three new drilling rigs built today is not drilling for oil. It is drilling for natural gas. Interesting.

the secretive mr. cheney

March 8, 2002

The GAO for the first time in our history has sued the Vice President of the United States. In an effort to get Mr. Cheney to release information about who was consulted regarding the development of the Bush energy policy, the GAO has been forced to take this extraordinary step. Cheney still refuses. A federal judge has ordered him to turn over the information. Still he refuses. Since the vice president has chosen not to tell the people of the United States, whom he supposedly works for, what they rightfully should be told, we can only speculate. So lets speculate! Now we already know that environmental groups weren't consulted. They know they weren't in the meetings. So the natural assumption is that the only people consulted were oil-, coal- and nuclear-barons. So if Cheney released a list of them, most people would just yawn and say, "Well, duh." So what's Mr. Cheney really hiding?

Mr. Cheney has been an oilman for some time. He has also been very, very interested in the natural gas reserves in and around the Caspian Sea (located just above AFGHANISTAN where we are currently engaged in a "War on Terrorism"). The natural gas resources in that region are massive and whoever controls them will wield tremendous power and MONEY. The most efficient way to get all that natural gas to market and turn it into MONEY is by piping it through AFGHANISTAN. Unocal corporation has been working to get a pipeline built through AFGHANISTAN for much of the 1990s. They even were trying to negotiate with the Taliban to get it built. That didn't work out. A man named Hamid Karzai was part of the Unocal team trying to secure the pipeline contract with the Taliban. Coincidently(?) Hamid Karzai is now the man being put in charge of post-Taliban AFGHANISTAN as a result of the U.S.-led "War on Terrorism".

Wouldn't it be something if Mr. Hamid Karzai were to turn up on the list that the secretive Mr. Cheney is trying to hide? I suspect many of our allies and many in the Arab world might not be too happy, not to mention some citizens here. All sorts of conspiracy theories could spring from that. Of course this is just speculation...

It sure would be nice if Mr. Cheney would clear this up so we wouldn't have to speculate anymore. But even if he chooses not to and we never find out who developed our energy policy, don't be surprised if a U.S company (Unocal perhaps?) builds a natural gas pipeline across AFGHANISTAN shortly after we rid them of "Terrorism".
