apocalypse nowScientists around the world are warning that global warming (GW) is much worse than previously feared and appears to be accellerating. Our president-select 'Gee' Dubya disagrees and thinks it may be worth watching but we don't need to act yet. New energy Secretary Spencer Abraham favors increased oil exploration (exploitation?) and rarely if ever mentions conservation. Our increasing dependence on fossil fuels is now a foregone conclusion for at least the next four years while big oil controls the White House. SUVs, the environmental weapons of choice in America today, grow to ever more gargantuan proportions with no end in sight. The situation is bleak. Perhaps the Prez-select is right? Maybe we are experiencing just a natural global weather fluctuation. An extensive background in meteorology and multiple nobel prizes for science would certainly validate his opinion... if he had any of those things. Of course he doesn't. Wouldn't it be prudent to err on the side of caution here? I suppose down the line our air could become dangerously clean, but somehow I doubt it.
