Hair
If there's one thing that I wish would have come made to order
Maybe it'd have been my hair
Saw a girl once, brushing long silky-straight blond hair saying,
"I hate my hair!"
And I thought
You hate your hair?
At least you can brush it!
At least it doesn't change with the weather!
Like some kind of human barometer constantly curving to the water in the air
At least it hasn't been compared to a rat's nest!
And what about the unsolicited hair advice I've received while simply shopping for groceries:
"Have you tried Frizz Ease or Zero Frizz?"
Or a plethora of products guaranteed to tame your locks into the finest most luxurious thing that ever hung down your back
And then there are the hat hair days when I just don't even want to look at my ever changing hair and I simply tie it all back and stuff a hat on my head to hide the mane from the world
But...
Sometimes, like maybe just enough times to count on my fingers
I have been with someone who loved my hair
Who brushed a runaway curl away from my cheek just to see my eyes
Or stuck their fingers in my mess and murmured, "I love your hair!"
Or said, "Is your hair naturally curly? You're so lucky!"
And recently, two young people said, "You have great hair!" and I
practically wanted to kiss them right then and there and tell them that they
made my day, my night, my month, my year!
"But it's only hair," you say,
"Who cares?"
